WORKSHEET / OBSERVE BEFORE YOU ESTIMATE

Your readings.
A clearer record.

Measure several collectors during one shared run. Keep true zero readings; fill every field. Your target comes from local guidance, not from this calculator.

Loading the worksheet. Controls will become available when the calculator is ready.

Record the run

Water depth in each collector

Use comparable straight-sided collectors and the same measurement interval. Do not enter volume.

6 collectors

Check current advice and restrictions with your utility or local extension. Zero is accepted as a deliberate target. No national default is applied.

Keep the conditions (optional)

Record known settings and actual observations. Unknown conditions remain unknown in the result.

YOUR MEASUREMENT SUMMARY

Start with
your observations.

The results will show average depth, the spread of readings and estimated time to your chosen average target.

Three collectors is this tool’s arithmetic minimum, not an audit sampling recommendation. Follow a suitable local protocol; every entered depth must be filled, and a real zero remains in the average.

WHAT THE MATH DOES

Average, then scale.
Keep the assumptions.

Mean = sum of depths ÷ collector count. Range = largest − smallest. Estimated total runtime = target ÷ observed mean × measured minutes. The estimate starts from zero application, not additional time after this test.

It assumes the same average application rate continues. It does not guarantee a target at every location, measure irrigation efficiency, calculate a standardized uniformity score, or prescribe a schedule. Stop if water pools and follow local guidance.
